An experienced manager, lawyer, and strategic advisor, Pierre will leverage his in-depth knowledge of the construction industry while offering clients his government relations expertise and legal counsel experience.
As the Director of Legal and Government Affairs at the Association de la construction du Québec (ACQ) for 25 years, Pierre has an unparalleled understanding of this critical sector’s key players and issues. His expertise will benefit TACT’s clients in the construction and housing industries, including businesses and associations, as they navigate complex public affairs challenges.
An Expert in Government Relations and Legal Affairs
Throughout his career, Pierre Hamel has participated in over thirty parliamentary committees. His extensive experience in government relations positions him as a top-tier advisor to support the agency’s clients.
A member of the Quebec Bar since 1982, Pierre began his career in civil and commercial litigation. As a specialist in the construction sector, he was named one of Canada’s 25 most influential lawyers by Canadian Lawyer Magazine in 2021. A prominent advocate for the interests of contractors in Quebec, Pierre worked tirelessly to support them during the pandemic, advance legislation on prompt payment in Quebec, and modernize workplace health and safety laws.
A Significant Contribution to the Construction Sector
Following the Charbonneau Commission, where Pierre served as counsel for the ACQ, he worked closely with CIRANO to develop and implement an integrity program specifically designed for the construction industry. This initiative was recognized by the United Nations, the Basel Institute in Switzerland, and Canadian Inhouse Lawyer magazine, which awarded Pierre the INNOVATIO prize in 2018.
