TACT Bolsters Its Defence and Aerospace Expertise with the Appointment of Lieutenant-General (Retired) Yvan Blondin

August 25, 2025

TACT is proud to announce the arrival of Yvan Blondin to its team as Strategic Advisor. With a 35-year career in the Canadian Armed Forces, including several senior command positions within the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), Lieutenant-General Blondin brings invaluable strategic expertise in defence and aerospace to TACT.

Recognized for his exemplary leadership and deep understanding of both military and industry challenges, he offers unique insight into understanding, analyzing, and anticipating the evolution of Canadian military requirements. He also brings a sharp awareness of the political and bureaucratic influences that will shape the complexities and challenges of procurement programs under Canada’s new Defence procurement strategy.

Within the Royal Canadian Air Force, Lieutenant-General Blondin held several key positions, beginning as a CF-18 fighter pilot before serving as CF-18 Squadron Commander, Commander of Bagotville Base in Saguenay, Commander of 1 Canadian Air Division and head of national and international air operations for the RCAF. He was later appointed Chief of the Air Staff and Commander of the RCAF, a position he held from 2012 to 2015.

This extensive experience gives him a broad perspective, ranging from on-the-ground realities to the highest levels of military, government, and political decision-making, as well as a unique network within the defence and aerospace sectors. Since leaving the Canadian Armed Forces in 2016, he has served as a strategic advisor to several major players in Canada’s defence and aerospace industry. With his arrival, TACT will be able to better serve its growing defense clientele.

“The arrival of Lieutenant-General Yvan Blondin enhances our clients’ ability to understand and anticipate the complex challenges tied to defence and aerospace, both operationally and strategically. His keen insight into the evolution of Canadian military requirements is a major asset for organizations and businesses seeking to better grasp the realities that shape large procurement programs.”
